At Richmond Vehicle Specialists, we offer trustworthy tyre repairs for all makes and models all cars. Tyres are one of the most important components for safety when driving, and if they are not in the required condition, it could be seriously dangerous for you and drivers around you. We are Richmond’s tyre specialists, and we can confidently say we are the best place to go when you’re in need of tyre repairs. We also offer a free visual inspection if you’re not 100% on the condition of your tyres. Although we recommend making sure your tyre pressure is at the correct level for all 4 tyres to prevent any damage. Over time, tyres will get worn down so you will inevitably need them replacing at some point in the future. However, a lot of the time, tyres can be repaired, for example a tyre puncture can be repaired following industry guidelines.
If your tyres are beyond the point of repair, we also offer tyre replacement. We stock and supply the highest quality tyres, including the likes of Continental, Dunlop, Goodyear, Michelin and Pirelli. Although we recommend brand new tyres, replacing your old tyres with used, but legal tyres are also a great solution, saving you money. Before your tyre gets to this point, however – it is important to check your tyres consistently before any long journey or as often as possible. You may not realise that something is wrong with your tyres until it’s too late. Simple checks like checking the tread depth and overall condition of your tyres should prevent any dangerous situations.
As mentioned before, it is important to check the tyres yourself before long journeys etc. However, what if you don’t know how or what to check for?
• Tread depth – You can check this using a tread depth gauge or a 20p coin. The legal minimum tread depth is 1.6mm in the UK – If you try the 20p coin test, the outer band of the coin should be obscured by the tyre when placed inside the groove. If you can still see the other band, your tyres could be below the legal limit and could result in a fine of up to £2,500 of caught by police.
• Overall condition – Bald tyres are just as – if not more dangerous than having the tread depth below the legal limit. Any bumps, cuts or lumps are often as a result of impact, for example, driving over a big pothole. In these instances, getting your tyres checked is important as they will usually need to be repairs or even replaced.
